Just how far can you see an RV from its usual form towards more of a motorhome-type structure for the future without completely hiding its function and how are should be? In this case, the basic class A format still has a powerful effect, looks the results are nice. Let’s take a look.

Travco Motorhome

Travco Motorhome
By mid of the 60s, the Travco Motorhome was rolling out for the first time in 1965, categorized as a Class A Recreational Vehicle with the futuristic shape believed a stepped-forward design of the period. Comes with a more aerodynamic design than most motorhomes at the time, making it very popular. The long production period start from 1965 to late of the 80's that was based on a Dodge motorhome chassis.

GMC Motorhome

GMC Motorhome
In the next decade in the 70s, GMC motorhomes were shown at the GMC factory showroom, are only complete motorhomes ever built by a major automobile manufacturer GMC. Under the GM Truck & Coach Division, the GMC Motorhome comes with a radical design for the era and has a lower profile with a front-wheel drive layout and a fully integrated body making it a more modern and futuristic look than the others.

Part of the reason this vehicle is so different from other motor homes of the era, it wasn't conceived as just a "camper," but as a comfortable travel vehicle as well. Short production years starting from 1973 to 1978, shorter production years than the Travco Motorhome above, making it more valuable today.

Vixen Motorhome

Vixen Motorhome
Mid of the 80s is emergence one of the most futuristic RV ever made as a mass product based on foreign drivetrain BMW, offered by the Vixen Motor Company and available in three different types: the Vixen 21 TD (BMW Turbo Diesel), Vixen 21 SE (GM V6 Gas-engine), and Vixen XC / 39 Limos (BMW Turbo Diesel). The Vixen was inspired by the GMC motorhome, designed to be lighter, lower, and smaller, but having all features of larger competitors.

The aerodynamics design through wind tunnel testing is better than most production sedans and even sports cars on the road at the time. Only three years was production start from 1986 to 1989.

Mauck Special Vehicles

Then the last of 19 century, in the 90s, as the name suggests it was a special vehicle, expensive and built by order, called Mauck Specialty Vehicles (MSV) was created by Andy Mauck. Originally this was not designed as a motorhome but as a customized after-market vehicle so it depends on the buyer's want. Then the company was purchased by a group of investors and became known as Advanced Bus Industries (ABI). Over 100 units were built between 1996 to 1999.
